The Wizard of Oz 85th Birthday Celebration In-Person
The Wizard of Oz is 85 years old this year! Let's Celebrate!
One of the most beloved films of all time was released August 25,1939. A film for young and old alike, The Wizard of Oz is part of the American landscape, the story and film delighting and inspiring us still in 2024. On June 18, 1939, nine weeks before The Wizard of Oz premiered, parts of this region, including the city of Anoka, experienced their own catastrophic twister, the impact of which is still evident in Anoka today.
To commemorate both memorable events, the Rum River Library is hosting a Wizard of Oz-inspired celebration event. Just like the film, this event is for all ages. No registration is necessary! Drop by the Rum River Library between 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, August 1 to celebrate and experience Oz in a new way.
