Mississippi Reading Bridge In-Person
Reading Bridge fosters the joy of reading and boosts reading skills through mentorship and creative play.
Intended for students in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade who are reading below grade level.
Young readers will be paired with a volunteer mentor to meet once a week for 8-12 weeks (depending on season) to build reading skills and confidence. Each 45 minute session will include time for the student and mentor to read together, play games and activities designed to build literacy skills, and goal setting for the week to come.
To participate in the program, students must:
- be in grades 1-3
- read below grade level
- live in or attend school in Anoka County
- be able to meet with their volunteer mentor every week on the same day and time
When you register, you will be automatically registered for that same timeslot each week for the entire Reading Bridge season. For the effectiveness of the program and to respect the time of our volunteers, families are asked to commit to attending every weekly session for the Reading Bridge season. If you will miss more than 2 weeks during a Reading Bridge season, please wait and register for a future Reading Bridge season when you can attend every session.
