Poetry Sculpture Garden In-Person

This program is intended for youth aged 12 to 17 years. Participants will work with Dralandra to create an original contemporary poem that expresses a personal or historic theme, then bring their words to life by sculpting a clay piece inspired by their writing. The session begins with a brief reading of one of Dralandra's original poems, using vivid imagery and symbolism to introduce myself and spark discussion. Participants will reflect together on the feelings and images the poem evokes, and we’ll explore how personal themes can be expressed through both poetry and art. From there, participants will draft their own poems and design clay sculptures that visually represent their writing. I’ll share examples of poems and companion sculptures to guide the process.
