Memoir Writing Workshop with Anika Fajardo In-Person

In order for memoir to reach a broad audience, the writer’s personal experience must be relatable to the reader. In this class, writers will look at their own experiences and dig deeper to find the kernels of truth that make personal stories memorable. Anika Fajardo will share her basic framework for memoir, which she calls the "creative nonfiction pyramid," to help writers think about how to share not only their own memories, but also to expose the universal on the page.

Featured Local Author Anika Fajardo is an award-winning writer born in Colombia and raised in Minnesota. Her debut novel for adult readers is The Many Mothers of Dolores Moore, a finalist for the 2026 Minnesota Book Award. She is also the author of the middle-grade novels and the memoir Magical Realism for Non-Believers
