Alebrijes: Mexican Folk Art In-Person
Alebrijes are imaginary beings made up of elements from different animals. Considered the originator of the alebjies art form, artist Pedro Linares López, said they came from his dreams. It is not unusal for an artist to create an alebrijes by combining the feet from a real animal with the body of another animal and the head of yet another animal to create a fantastical creature. Make your own fantastical creature with artist Laurie Witzkowski as you learn about the folkart traditions of Oaxaca, Mexico.
