Adaptive Teen Program: Let's Clay: Tasty Treats In-Person

This adaptive class is for teens with disabilities.  Participants will be paired with a peer buddy with the goal of connecting teens with and without disabilities to learn, socialize, and have fun together.

  • A parent or caregiver should stay in the library while their teen participates in the program.  Supporting Your Child With Special Needs Bookclub is a concurrent program for adults happening at the same time.  If you'd like to join that program while your teen does Let's Clay, please register here: https://anokacounty.libcal.com/event/10394013
  • If you are a teen interested in being a peer buddy for this program, please register here: https://anokacounty.libcal.com/event/10658985

Create your favorite treats out of colorful clay! Learn different sculpting techniques using oven-safe polymer clay. Add your treats to your favorite play scenes, trade and collect them with friends, or turn them into charms or a necklace with the provided materials!  The instructor will show examples for all projects being made during the class and start off the class by sharing what will happen during the class. Each step of the project will be shown first by the instructor and projected digitally on a screen. Participants will learn skills for using their hands and clay tools to shape the polymer clay. Instructor will be present during the whole class to assist, encourage and support each participants creativity.
